Depending on how the site is built or the design is structured, could be a hybrid.
Check out Rockwell, a client of mine on Shopify. They had similar issues, so we built out content on the category pages.

However, we did not want to suppress the product by putting content up top. So since it’s on bottom that allowed us also to go longer.
If you click around each of the main category pages you’ll see this same format we built out.
We’re also now building out content on the individual watches. Since inventory can often be the same, the trick to diversifying the content is leveraging the differences in variations. Talk about the color differences, size differences, etc.
