If you’re thinking because it’s Rockwell, brand or not doesn’t make a difference. Strategy is still effective.
Because in Rockwell’s case, answering both questions, we’re NOT targeting “Rockwell.” If people already know they brand they’ll search and buy the brand. So we’re targeting non-brand, like “men’s watches” above.

Yes, your “orthopaedic pet bed x a non-orthopaedic” would be a great topic if the product category IS orthopaedic. If you ALSO sell non-orthopaedic, just don’t mix messaging and try selling both products on one product’s page. If you sell both, focus on orthopaedic benefits on an orthopaedic page, and I would not disparage non-orthopaedic. But on the non-orthopaedic page you could talk up the benefits of orthopaedic.
That way one page isn’t crapping on another if they click back and forth, but one page does lift up the other if they do.
